What are the conditions for cancelling?

We have the Clévacances quality label (3 keys). Clévacances is one of the only two national quality seals approved by the Ministry of Tourism, and we use their standard contracts, as we know they are legal and offer the best protection for you.

You are strongly advised to take out a holiday insurance policy that covers the cost of cancellation.

Check our cancellation policy here:

Please note that this is only a translation of the rental agreement - as per French legislation, our rental agreement has to be in French; however it is from Clevavacances legal team so you can rest assured that it is a faithful translation of the contract in French.

Can I get a refund if I have to cut my stay short?

If you choose to leave early, and if our responsibility is not involved, there will be no refund, except for the security deposit.

Can we use the telephone?

Yes: all calls to France and Europe (fixed lines only) and North America (fixed lines and mobile/cells phones) are included in our telephone package. Calls outside those free zones will be deducted from your security deposit. Please see the folder in the apartment for charges/rates.  Our service provider sometimes adds new countries so don’t hesitate to ask us for up-to-date information.

For those countries not included, we suggest you use a VOIP provider such as Skype, if you have brought your laptop.

We also provide a Nokia cell/mobile telephone with a pay-as-you go card. If you use it, you can pay for your calls before you leave. If the cell/mobile phone needs credit for calls, let us know as this facility is only available on the Internet.

Is there an Internet connection?

Yes. Both WIFi and Ethernet (cable provided). We will provide you with the access codes for WIFi.

What if there are any problems with the apartment during my stay?

You contact us (day and night in case of an emergency) or our representative.

How do I get to your apartment?

It will depend on how you get there: car, train, taxi or coach from the airport. We will send you detailed instructions by email.

What do we need to bring with us? What amenities come with the house?

The house is furnished with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and home-like.

We provide all linens and a kitchen fully stocked with plenty of dishes, utensils, and cookware.

Please see the list on this website and you will see that you should find nearly everything you need in the apartment.

We provide a starter pack of toilet rolls, washing machine and dishwasher tables, which we ask you to replace as you use them (except for short stays- a week – when we will replace all these items.
We provide all the cleaning products.
Don’t forget to bring electrical adaptors.
If your personal appliances are manufactured for use in North America, then you will not only have to adapt to the different shape of plug but also convert to a different voltage.

If you have films, photos or music, on a USB key or external disk drive, we have a handy little box (multi-media USB reader) so you can watch/listen to these on the flat-screen TV.

There are small supermarkets open near the apartment until 9.00 pm during the week and 12.00 on Sundays.

There is a large commercial centre not far from the apartment where you will find everything your heart desires.

If you wish us to do some basic shopping for you before your arrival, please let us know.

Where do we park our car? Is the parking free?

You can park in the street with a little bit of patience - it is not free or you can park in the Les Halles car park, about 50 meters from the apartment.

You will find up-to-date rates in the information folder in the apartment.

What time can we arrive at the apartment?

You may arrive anytime after 4.00pm. Please let us know your expected arrival time so we can make sure we will be in the apartment when you arrive (we live about 10 minutes’ away by car)

We try to be as flexible as possible but we need time to get the apartment ready for you after the last guests’ departure.

What time do we have to leave?

Usually by 11.00 at the latest, but again we try to be as flexible as possible.

What if we break something?

It depends what it is: we would not charge you for the odd broken glass. If you have an accident we would rather you told us sooner than later so it can be fixed in time for the next guests.

If you break the TV or an expensive piece of equipment, damage the floor or the walls, or the slats on the beds, we will ask you to replace the item or cover the cost of repairs.

What about cleaning?

The apartment is cleaned before your arrival. During your stay, we ask you to maintain it in a reasonable state of cleanliness.

We trust you to use our apartment with care and respect and to leave it in the same state of cleanliness as when you found it. (Wash and put away dishes, empty the bins, empty and clean the fridge/freezer.

If you are staying more than 11 days, we provide a basic weekly cleaning service.

Household linen (bed linen and towels) are provided and renewed weekly.

You will find more details in the folder in the apartment.

What are the advantages of a vacation/holiday rental?

Do you ever wish your hotel room had just a little more personality? Well, renting our apartment for your holiday/ vacation might just be the thing you're looking for. Offering larger living spaces than hotel rooms, you will live like you were in your own home. You will enjoy greater privacy than in a hotel room and you can cook your own meals.

Instead of one big room where the whole family sleeps, you will have a separate bedroom and lounge area. There are plenty of maps and guide books, as well as books and films at your disposal.

You will find that our apartment is cheaper on a per night basis than staying in a hotel.

Last but not least, you will have the comfort of knowing that if you have an emergency or a problem you can’t sort yourself, we are here to help you. Contrary to a lot of owners who have an English language flag on their website, we actually are fluent in English and French. (This is from personal experience)

Who are your guests?

We have an incredible variety of guests: some stay as little as a week, some stay for a few weeks or months.

Many come from the USA, Australia and Canada. Our American and Australian guests are often on a European trip, or are re-locating to Lyon for work and they stay in our apartment whilst looking for more permanent accommodation.

We have had a number of American guests (including a Chief Justice from a US Supreme Court!) who come to lecture at one of the local university to young American students who come to Lyon in the summer.

Some of our French guests come to visit family or welcome a new baby or are in Lyon to relocate from abroad or another part of France.

It all makes our lives very interesting! and we are very lucky to meet all sorts of people we would never meet if we did not have the apartment.
